About PNG to PDF

PNG is the format screenshots and exported diagrams arrive in, and those are exactly the things people need to hand over as documents — a bug report with annotated screenshots, a set of design mockups for review, a chart to attach to a summary.

Each PNG becomes a page in the finished PDF, scaled to fit the page without distortion. Because PNG supports transparency and PDF pages do not have an inherent background, you also choose what colour sits behind transparent pixels; white is the sensible default for anything that will be printed.

Image data is embedded at full resolution, so screenshots stay pixel-sharp and text inside them remains crisp when zoomed.

How to convert PNG to PDF

Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparent areas?

They are filled with the background colour you choose, because a PDF page has no transparency of its own. White works for printing; a dark colour may suit screenshots taken from a dark-themed app.

Does converting reduce quality?

No. The PNG data is embedded losslessly, so screenshots stay pixel-perfect and stay sharp when zoomed in the PDF reader.

Can I mix PNG and JPG images in one PDF?

Not in a single pass. Create one PDF from each format and combine them with Merge PDF, which lets you set the final page order.

Why is my PDF larger than the images?

PNG is lossless, so the data inside the PDF is as large as the source files, plus a little document structure. Converting the PNGs to JPG first, or running the PDF through the PDF Compressor, will shrink it considerably.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The document is built in your browser and never transmitted.
